AVA S. FAIRCLOTH

Ava Elizabeth Smith Faircloth, 91, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Ava was born in Wayne County July 26, 1919, to the late John G. Smith and Nora Gurley Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Carl Clifton Faircloth.
Early in life, Ava had worked at Woolworth's, and later at the Coker's Mill Grill.
Ava's primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister.
Ava always enjoyed visiting with her church family and friends. She got great pleasure in cooking for her family and helping work on the farm. Ava could often be found helping others in her community.
She was a lifelong member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where she had been active in the ladies auxiliary and choir, and also sang in the Woods Grove Trio.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at 7 p.m. in Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reynolds Smith, Dr. DeWayne Eakes and the Rev. Danny Hamm officiating. Interment will be Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Ava is survived by her daughters, Carol Creech and husband, Nelson, of Snow Hill, Annette Pelletier of Snow Hill and Daphine Price and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro; her sisters, Esther Casey, Nora Ann Edmundson and Vernell Quinn all of Goldsboro; her brother, James E. "Shine" Smith of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Roger Pelletier, and her brothers and sisters, Laulas Newsome, Robert Smith, Joe William Smith, Mabel Coker, Sarah Emma Davis, Rex Smith and John G. Smith Jr.
The family would like to express its special thanks to the staff of The Pines, Britthaven Nursing Home and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care shown to their mother during her declining health. May God bless each of you.

The family will receive friends Thursday following the service in the church fellowship hall, and other times at the home of Carol and Nelson Creech, 333 Creech Road, Snow Hill.
