MOUNT OLIVE -- Christopher Austin McCullen, 11, went to be with Jesus Friday, while a patient at Brennor Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Austin lived in Winston-Salem, and was a student at Midway Elementary School in Winston-Salem.
He was from Mount Olive.
He is survived by his parents, Susan Griggs Hutchens and Bruce Hutchens Jr. of the home in Winston-Salem; two brothers, Seth Stacy and Triftan Hutchens of the home; maternal grandmother, Molly Watts of Mount Olive; paternal grandparents, Bruce Hutchens and Daisy Hutchens of Winston-Salem; and uncles and aunts, Carla Griggs and George Griggs of Mount Olive and Christopher Hutchens and Paige Hutchens of Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Walter Watts Sr. and Mildred Watts, and two uncles, Michael Griggs and Joshua Hutchens.
A service of remembrance for Austin will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Tim Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood in Mount Olive.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Molly Watts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jones Grove Church, 1409 Country Club Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
