DURHAM -- Edwin Lane Yelverton, 58, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of God in Pittsboro on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Dr. Peter Bell Jr. and the Rev. Helen D. Russell officiating. The family will receive friends at the Clements Funeral Home on Monday from 7 until 9 p.m. Burial will be in the Cox-Thompson Family Cemetery in Goldsboro at 3 p.m.
Mr. Yelverton was born in Mecklenburg County the son of the late Calvin Robert Yelverton Jr. and Eliza Herring Cox Yelverton Reaves. He was self-employed in the real estate business.
Mr. Yelverton is survived by his wife, Eleanor Patricia Burke Yelverton; an aunt, Marguerite Cox; his cousins, Michael Cox and wife, Kathy, and Marshall Cox Jr.; his mother-in-law, Hazel Burke; and his brothers-in-law, George Burke and Kenneth Burke and wife, Lela.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
