D. Frank Hinnant Jr., 90, of Fremont died Dec. 10, 2010.

A celebration of Frank's life will be today at 3 p.m., at the fellowship hall of Fremont United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D. Frank Hinnant and Lillie Holland Hinnant, and his beloved wife of 63 years, Anne Exum Hinnant.

He is survived by his children, John Franklin Hinnant (Emy) of Wilson, Sara Diane Baldwin (Andy) of Murrell's Inlet, S.C., and David Franklin Hinnant (Ellen) of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Randal Bailey Currin Jr. (Jessica) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Holland Currin Falvey (Dave) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lewis Franklin Hinnant of Trail, Ore., Melissa Hinnant Rogers (Jonathan) of Celina, Texas, John Emerson Hinnant (Sarah) of Taos, N.M., Elizabeth Holland Hinnant of Wake Forest and Jason McBride Abbott (Jamey) of Kennesaw, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Raleigh Ansley Currin of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Regan McBride Abbott of Kennesaw, Ga.

Frank was a graduate of Fremont School. He worked for the Army Map Service during World War II and served as a Boy Scout District Executive in Chattanooga, Tenn. and Burlington. He served as manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Lenoir and Henderson. He was employed as a direct factory representative for Southern Desk Company in Hickory, for 27 years. He was a member of Fremont United Methodist Church and the Fremont Rotary Club. Frank was the first Eagle Scout from Fremont and was a fervent, life-long supporter of scout activities. He attended the first Boy Scout National Jamboree in Washington, D.C., in 1937. He was very proud of the fact that his two sons and two of his grandsons are Eagle Scouts and that his daughter reached the highest rank in Girl Scouts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Fremont BSA Troop 12, c/o Tony Ballance, Scout Master, 1172 Black Creek Rd., Fremont N.C. 27830.
