LOIS S. CARR

Lois Sewell Carr, 84, of Goldsboro, died peacefully and surrounded by family Nov. 25, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 29, 2010, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Steven Briggs officiating. Graveside services will follow the funeral service at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Carr was born May 13, 1926, in Johnston County to the late John Argo Sewell and Lettie Lucille Ludlum Sewell. She was married to the late Livius Marion "Pete" Carr. She was more affectionately known to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of their friends as "Mama Lois."
She worked many years as a dental assistant at Seymour Johnson AFB during WWII. She worked for General Electric and at one time was featured on the cover of General Electric magazine. She was secretary for Carr Electric Company for 50 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Ward Relief Society president, librarian and other numerous positions in the church.
Mrs. Carr is survived by her children, daughter and son-in-law, Lois Marion Carr Puhl and Philip Puhl of Goldsboro; her son, Livius Steven Carr and fiancée, Tamera Weimer, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Mrs. Kelly Dees Denny of Victorville, Calif., Mrs. Tracy Dees Vanderpool or Goldsboro, Mrs. Billie Dees Pierce of Georgia, Livius Steven Carr Jr. of Biloxi, Miss., and Matthew Hunter Carr of Goldsboro; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Taylor Vanderpool of Goldsboro, Zachary and Zeke Deblase and Lucas Denny of California, Christopher, Lauren and Will Pierce of Georgia, Samantha Marion Carr of Mississippi, Jade Hammett of Oklahoma City, and a sister, Robbie Sewell Moye of Goldsboro.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Robert "Bob" Carr, her brothers, Billy Edward Sewell and John L. Sewell and sister Kathleen Lancaster.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before the funeral service.
