GRAYSON, Ga. -- Nathaniel Artis Jr., 68, of 2642 Whispering Pines Drive, Grayson, Ga., formerly of Greene County, departed this life Monday in the Joshua House in El Paso, Texas.

His life and legacy will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Delight Missionary Baptist Church in Walstonburg. His mortal frame will be laid to rest in St. Delight Community Cemetery.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memories his daughter, Renai Artis of Grayson, Ga.; his son, Errek (Shelly) of El Paso, Texas; three grandchildren, Tamika Renai Martin of Grayson, Ga., John Anthony "Tony" Cunningham-Artis (Allegra) of El Paso, Texas and Jourdan-Nicole Artis of El Paso, Texas; six brothers, Deacon Karl D. Artis (Minnie) of Dudley, N.C., Albert Artis (Veronica) of Hyattsville, Md., Cheotise Artis (Brenda) of Eureka, N.C., Johnny Artis of Euerka, N.C., Bobby Artis of Fremont, N.C., and Jerome Artis (Alicia) of Salem, N.C.; four sisters, Thelma Artis of Raleigh, N.C., Dollie Artis Love of Landover, Md., Linda Artis of Stantonsburg, N.C., and Shirley Artis Pate (Leon) of Forestville, Md.; nine nephews; 29 nieces; a host of great-nephews and great-nieces; two uncles; an aunt; and a lot of friends.

Mr. Artis will lie in state for viewing at the church Saturday one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at 3134 N.C. 222, Eureka, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.

Arrangements are entrusted to McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
