DORIS REID MCCALL

June 18, 1931-Nov. 23, 2010

Mrs. Doris Reid McCall, 508 E. Walnut St., Goldsboro, N.C., was born June 18, 1931, in Wilson County, N.C., to the late Solomon and Saddie Reid.

She de-parted this earthly life Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She graduated from Friendship High School in Fremont, N.C.

Soon after, she married Alex Lincoln McCall, who preceded in her death. They traveled aboard and the United States throughout his military career before settling in Goldsboro, N.C., to raise their children.

She retired from O'Berry Center after 20-plus years of service.

She joined St. James Church of Christ in 1973 and became president of the senior usher board and member of the mother board.

She was known as "mother" to many. She touched many with her loving open heart and generosity.

She leaves to cherish memories her children, three daughters, Iris Battle of Goldsboro, Regina McCall of Goldsboro and Victoria Parks (Michael) of Raleigh; four sons, Alexander McCall, Eric McCall (Nancy), Sidney McCall (Maria) and David McCall (Shirley) of Pennsylvania; sister, Almerta Reid of Goldsboro; a brother: Solomon Reid Jr., of Fremont; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Bryce McCall and Summer Battle; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation for Ms. McCall will be held Saturday from
4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family present
to receive friends from
6 to 7 p.m.

Services to celebrate the life and legacy of Ms. McCall will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at St. James Church of Christ. After which, Ms. McCall's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted to Wayne Memorial Park for interment rites.

Lady attendees are asked not to wear pants.

Services of compassion and distinguished class are rendered by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
