WILSON -- Alvin Sylvester "Boy" Artis, 69, 4216 Larkspur Road, Wilson, N.C., passed Sunday at his residence.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at L. N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street Ext., with the Rev. Dr. James Lucas officiating and the Rev. Jeffrey Simms presiding. Interment will be in Union Grove Church Cemetery, 2136 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, N.C.
He leaves a legacy of love to his wife, Dollie Artis; his mother, Letha Artis; three nephews, whom he assisted in rearing, Keith Taylor (Bernice), Dennis Taylor and Markee Taylor; a niece, whom he assisted in rearing, Shelia Taylor; four sisters, Adell Artis, Frances Artis, Ella Artis and Minnie Truman; a brother-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro Street SW., Wilson, N.C.
At all other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where they will also assemble one hour prior to the funeral service in preparation for the funeral procession.
Caring and professional services have been entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Wilson.
