CAROLYN ANN PEELE HOWELL

Carolyn Ann Peele Howell, 73, passed away on Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was born in Wayne County on Nov. 13, 1937, to the late Zeb Peele and Bertie Pate Peele. She was an active member of Saulston United Methodist Church. Carolyn was a fine Christian lady loved by family, friends and the many whose lives she touched. She was a respected teacher and guidance counselor for 27 years in the Wayne County School System. There was no one more special to her grandchildren than "MeMe."

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at her residence. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, George A. Howell; her children, Teresa Howell Smith of Goldsboro, Tony Howell and wife Melinda of Wilmington, and Dawn Howell Schulte and husband Jan of Swansboro; her grandchildren, Luke Smith, Shelby Howell, Brian Howell, Ian Schulte, and Thomas Schulte; her brother, Bobby Peele of Durham and her sister, Jane Peele Smith of Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saulston United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
