Katie Barwick Vaughn Collier, 80, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Katie was born in Wayne County June 26, 1930, to the late Major Lloyd Barwick and Mary Godwin Barwick.
She was a member of Free Gospel Church at Shines Crossroads.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Heath and the Rev. Gerald Hollamon officiating. The interment will be Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Katie is survived by her daughters, Linda Grant and husband, J.W., Betty Jo Smith and husband, Kay, and Gaynelle Wall; her son, Bill Vaughn; her grandchildren, Donna Newsome, Ricky Teel and wife, Kriss, Kelly Pyle and husband, Glenn, Doug Smith and wife, Celena, Billie Jean McDonough and husband, Jason, Murphy Vaughn, Jesse Johnson and wife, Tracey, Tammy Myers and husband, Ralph, T.J. Goodman and Kim Deleon; 11 great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Cleo Thornton of Burlington. She is also survived by a special niece, Judy Pollock Dube', and a special caregiver, Angela Letchworth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Murphy Vaughn, father of her children; her husband, Cecil Collier; her sisters, Gladys Weeks, Muriel Pollock and Marie Sullivan; and her one grandson, "Little Bill" Vaughn.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center at 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service, and other times at 170 Mount Airy Road in Goldsboro.
