PRINCETON -- Delton M. Toler, 83, of Princeton passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Johnston Health Center.

Born in Johnston County Nov. 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Leslie and Agnes Toler, and was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Toler.

Delton retired after 35 years with Progress Energy.

A veteran of World War II, Delton was a part of the United States occupation in Giessen, Germany.

He was a member of Princeton Baptist Church and St. Patrick's Masonic Lodge, served on the Princeton Cemetery Committee and was a member of the Pine Level American Legion for 64 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Princeton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dwayne Batten, the Rev. Lee Eames and the Rev. Richard Toler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Princeton Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Betty Johnson Toler; daughters and their husbands, Terri and Billy Sutton and Kay and Jeff Radford all of Princeton and Dale and Chris Mace of Dunn; grandchildren, Amie Daughtry and husband, Gray, and Angela Jones and husband, Tommy, all of Princeton and Grant Mace and Clark Mace of Dunn; great-grandchildren, Spencer Woodard, Averie Daughtry, Jared Jones, Jacob Jones and Ellie Daughtry; and a brother, Bobby Toler and wife, Auline, of Princeton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.
