FAISON -- Harold M. Best Sr., 81, died Thursday.

The family will receive friends at Tyndall's Funeral Home in Mount Olive Sunday beginning at 1 p.m., with funeral services following at 3 p.m. in the chapel, after which burial will take place in Wayne Memorial Park, with Robert Oliver and the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.

Mr. Best was a retired electrician, having been employed with National Spinning Co., and he was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Best; his children, Betty Jean Best Williams of Mount Olive, Harold Milton Best Jr. of New Bern, Randy Michael Best of Warsaw, Danny Ray Best of Faison and Juanita Fay Kelso and Terry Lynn Capps both of South Carolina; his stepchildren, Joy Lanier of Goldsboro, Rita Noguess of New Mexico, Norman Millen of LaGrange, and the Rev. Bobby Smith of Mount Olive; two brothers, Donald Ray Best of Warsaw and Rudolph Valentino Best of Clinton; two sisters, Hilda Best Kornegay of Dudley and Effie Best Williams of Goldsboro; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren, Cody Millen, Spencer Millen, Susan Smith, Robert Smith, Lydia Smith, Rebecca Noguess, Jamie Noguess Jr., Elizabeth Noguess, Allen Alphin, Justin Alphin; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Abbie Gail Alphin and Julie Ann Alphin; and his mother-in-law, Susan T. Jackson of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Robert and Betty Aman Best; his first wife and the mother of his children, Gladys Olivia Brock Best; and a brother, Rufus James Best.
