DOROTHY TAYLOR CUTLER

March 23, 1911-Aug. 24, 2010

Dorothy Adrienne Pillars Taylor Cutler, 99, died peacefully Aug. 24, 2010, at Litchford Falls Healthcare in Raleigh.

She was born March 23, 1911, to William Jesse Taylor and Dorothy Pillars Taylor of Wilson.

After graduating from Meredith College, she married David Bell Cutler, a World War II veteran and southeastern states district manager for Johanssen Shoe Co. Until his death in 1958, they resided and raised their family in Goldsboro, where she taught art in the Wayne County School System.

Upon retirement, she built a home in Pine Knoll Shores and enjoyed her life there for nearly 35 years.

Dot was active in the arts communities of Wayne and Carteret counties, and leaves behind a wealth of beautiful paintings that provide a pictorial history of those areas.

She is survived by her immediate family, two daughters, Dottie Murray and husband, Brock Murray, of Raleigh and Sara David Credle and husband, Travis Credle, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Van B. Murray II, his wife, Niki, and daughter, Ashley, of Raleigh and Sara Murray-Ball and husband, James, of Boston, Mass.

A graveside service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010, at Willowdale Cemetery, Elm Street in Goldsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arts Council of Wayne County, 2406 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
