Minnie Lou Baker, beloved mother and friend to all, passed away Sept. 1, 2010, at Duke University Hospital surrounded by her family.

Minnie was born in Broadnax, Va., Sept. 16, 1938, to the late Willie and Annie Connor.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bill Baker, and four brothers, Walter, Bob, Cecil and Bill.

Minnie is survived by her five children, Debbie Edwards of Goldsboro, N.C., Donna Brunk and husband, Marlin, of Thaxton, Va.; Diana Gagnon and husband, Brent, of Guyton, Ga.; Pam Gulick of Roanoke, Va., and Allen Baker of Baltimore, Md. She is also survived by her four brothers, Mac, Dave, Wayne and Mike Connor, and her sister, Nancy Powers. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Jerry Mitchell officiating. The interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
