PHYLLIS P. EVANS

Phyllis P. Evans passed away Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at the Brian Center of Goldsboro.

Born in Johnston County on May 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Flora Pilkington. She was an active member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church until her health declined. Mrs. Evans retired from Cherry Hospital having worked for many years as the employee health/infection control nurse and was formerly employed with Wayne Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed going to yard sales, shopping and being involved with the Senior Games and the Senior Dance Group at The Herman Park Center.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with visitation to follow in the fellowship hall.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Aaron Evans of Goldsboro; a daughter, Dawn Anderson and husband, Keith, of Goldsboro; a son, Gage Evans and wife, Verna, of Albertson; her grandchildren, Chelsea Duffy and Shelle Anderson of Goldsboro, along with Taylor and Sierra of Albertson; her sisters, Aurelia Edwards of Dunn, Marguerite Greene, Inez Evans and Betty Evans, all of Selma, Hazel Worley of Princeton and Kay Creech of Southport; and her brother, Mihlon Pilkington of Selma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530; the charity of your choice; or to the Alzheimer's Association of N.C., Eastern Chapter, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, N.C. 27609.

Phyllis will be greatly missed, but we are blessed she is now in Heaven with her parents and is walking and talking again.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at The Brian Center for their continued support and guidance.
