Ethel V. Purvis, 82, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Ethel was born in Newport News, Va., April 21, 1928, to the late Steve Lampros and Ida Ramey Lampros. She was married to the late Fred Purvis.

Ethel owned and operated the Heritage Gift Shop in Goldsboro for many years, and had also owned, with her sister, the Heritage Gift Shop in Harlingen, Texas.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

A service to celebrate Ethel's life will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in McChesney Hall.

Ethel is survived by her daughters, Sharyon Troutman and husband, Bill, of Newport and Karen Anne Gable of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; her grandchildren, Michelle Walker and husband, Jim, Michael Troutman and wife, Amanda, and Jessica Gable; her three great-grandchildren, William Troutman II, Jenna Troutman and Seth Walker; her sister, Norma Woehl and husband, A.J., of Bastrop, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital at 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, Texas, 75219, or First Presbyterian Church at 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
