MARYETTA S. GASTON

April 18 1925-Aug. 20 2010

ASHTON, Md. -- Maryetta "Met" Gaston, 85, a former resident of Mount Olive, died Friday, Aug. 20, in Sandy Spring, Md. She was 85.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Friday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, and will be officiated by the Rev. Steven Wicks.

Her family will have a brief time of visitation following the service.

Mrs. Gaston is survived by a brother, William P. Schott II of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy Norris of Mount Olive; a son, Jeff Perkins of Alachua, Fla.; another daughter, Donna Larvenz and husband, Greg, of Ashland, Md., with whom she had made her home for the past several years; three grandchildren, Jerry Martin Norris Jr. of Hollywood, Fla., Jeffery Perkins of Gainesville, Fla., and Todd Larvenz and wife, Yeskel Cortes-Larvenz of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and a great-granddaughter, Meredith Norris of Newton Grove, N.C.

It was in 1974 that Mrs. Gaston moved to Mount Olive, along with her second husband, Roy Gaston, and they commenced upon renovating their home on West College Street, which they loved and enjoyed.

While a Mount Olive resident, she became a member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, and was employed with Brewer Insurance Agency.

After Mr. Gaston's death, Mrs. Gaston relocated to Pembroke Pines, Fla., to be near a daughter, whose residence was there.

In 2004, she, along with daughter and son-in-law, moved to Ashton, Md.

She enjoyed immensely the last years of her life, surrounded by family, her beloved pets and the Maryland wildlife that was always abundant.

Her death came peacefully Friday, Aug. 20, after suffering a broken hip from a fall just last month.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to a charity of choice that benefits the welfare of animals.

A Tyndall Funeral Home service.
