JEWEL S. JACKSON

Jewel Lorraine Smith Jackson, 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Wake Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 29, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Johnson and the Rev. Jeff Dail officiating. Interment will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Jewel was born in Wayne County on July 26, 1927, to the late Mark J. and Vicy S. Smith. She was a member of Goldsboro Worship Center. Jewel was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was married to the late Everette I. Jackson.

Jewel is survived by her daughter, Genny Grantham and husband, Kent, of Grantham; her son, Dale Jackson of Grantham and his friend, Pat Newman; her brothers, Billy Smith of Goldsboro and Shelton Smith and wife, Charlotte, of Goldsboro; her sister, Jean St. Clair and husband, Ralph, of Grantham; her daughter-in-law, Betsy Jackson Corbett and husband, Clayton, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Keith Hayes and wife, Tammy, Gretchen Pelletier and husband, Todd, Justin Jackson and wife, Diane, and Jeremy Joyner and wife, Ashley, and four great-grandchildren, Jackson Hayes, Kelsey Hayes, Alex Hinson and Ana Pelletier.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicy Jackson; her granddaughter, Natalie Joyner; her brothers, Frank Smith, Sill Smith and Buck Smith; and her sisters, Madeline Gurganus and Markie Tomlinson.

The family will receive friends today following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 195 Paul Hare Road, Goldsboro.
