DAN ALLEN SASSER

Dan Allen Sasser, 63, 3077 N.C. 111 north, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton.
Dan was born in Wayne County April 19, 1947, to the late Clawson and Leavie Johnson Sasser.
Dan was a longtime co-owner of Patetown Milling Co. in the Patetown community.
He was an avid fisherman. Dan loved to shrimp and fish with his "creek" buddies, Ben and Jeff. He also enjoyed flying his airplane.
His children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
Dan is survived by his wife, Terri Sasser; two daughters, Kim Shirley and husband, Mark, of Walstonburg and Kristy Roth and husband, Ben, of Pikeville; two stepdaughters, Melissa Hoskins and husband, Robert, of Pikeville and Shanna Gurley and husband, Steve, of Merritt; a brother, Don Sasser of Pikeville; nine grandchildren, Allen and Drew Walker, Dylan Costello, Jenny and Taylor Cox, Gabe and Nathan Gurley and Ben Roth II and Heather Finch; a great-grandchild, Addison Reinhart; two sisters-in-law, Renee Beavers of Oriental and Rebecca Sasser of Emerald Isle; and a special niece and nephew, Katherine Sasser and Carson Sasser of Emerald Isle.
