Ella Dean "Deanie" Marshburn McGowan, 92, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Greenville, N.C.
Deanie was born in Sampson County Sept. 18, 1917, to the late A. Ward Marshburn and Birdie Clifton Marshburn. She was married to the late Mosley Wallace "Doc" McGowan.
Deanie was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Fulkerson officiating.
Deanie is survived by her daughter, Jane McGowan Whealton and husband, Lee Whealton, of Winterville, N.C.; her granddaughter, Summer Hawley Gruber and husband, Matt Gruber; her grandson, Jay Hawley; her stepgranddaughters, Melissa Whealton and Alison Whealton North and husband, Jim North; her son, Robert Eugene "Gene" McGowan and wife, Mary McGowan, of Greenville, N.C.; her granddaughter, Jennifer McGowan Cunningham and husband, John Cunningham; her grandson, Bert McGowan; and three great-grandchildren.
