A. HARRIS MERRITT

Ammie Harris Merritt, 73, passed away on Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate his life at 1 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Millard Bounds will officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Harris was born in Sampson County on Dec. 25, 1936, to the late Gordon C. Merritt and Louise Branch Merritt. His great love for motorcycles led him to open Yamaha East in Goldsboro which is now known as Fun Products. Harris owned and operated his motorcycle shop for over 40 years.

Harris is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Davis Merritt; his sons, William Harris Merritt, Jonathan Wayne Merritt, and Daniel Clay Merritt and wife, Lisa; his daughter, Lisa Rose Merritt; his grandchildren, Jennifer Merritt Rutledge, Casey Rockwell Brown, Charlie Grayson Brown, Shelley Nicole Merritt and Gordan Drake Merritt; his stepgrandchild, Ashley Barwick; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Chloe.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the North Carolina Motorcycle Safety Foundation, 1005 E. Dixon Blvd., Shelby, NC 28150.
