ALBERT LEE BARFIELD

Jan. 25, 1928-Aug. 10, 2010

Albert Lee Barfield, 82, of 100 Park Ave., was the son of the late Harvey Barfield and Victoria Rose Barfield, born in Green County on Jan. 25, 1928. He departed this life on Aug. 10, 2010, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A time for visitation with Mr. Barfield and his family will be held Monday from noon until 1 p.m. at White Oak Grove FWB Church in Pikeville. Services of remembrance will begin at 1 p.m. Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Barfield, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Old Mill Cemetery for committal rites. Now that Mr. Albert has crossed those celestial shores, he has found everlasting peace in the arms of his heavenly father.

He attended Greene County Public Schools. At an early age, he attended Levington Chapel FWB Church in Stantonsburg.

He was a loving, caring and devoted father. Albert was united in marriage to Ruby Hagans Barfield in 1945. To this union, 10 children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Ruby Barfield; four sons, Melvin Barfield of Clayton, Billy Barfield, Jessie Barfield (Marvelle), David Barfield (Mildred), all of Philadelphia, Pa.; six daughters, Julia "Dot" Ricketts (Forrest), Missionary Linda Faye Barfield, all of Philadelphia, Pa., Fannie "Mary" Mickens (Mike), Nettie "Ruth" Barfield, Joyce Best (Augusta), Ernestine Lewis (Tic), all of Goldsboro; one sister, Pearlina Hayes (Elder Harold) of Philadelphia, Pa.; one aunt, Gladys Ward of Stantonsburg; 31 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services of compassion and class have been entrusted to E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc.
