PRINCETON -- James Oscar "Jimmy" Norris, 68, died Wednesday morning in Johnston Medical Center.

Born Aug. 21, 1941, in Johnston County to the late William A. and Cleo Woodard Norris, he was a retired maintenance and fuel operator for CP&L.

Jimmy was a very active member of the Smithfield Camp of the Sons of the Confederacy for many years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Princeton Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Sue Braswell Norris; daughters, Elaine Norris Langdon, Teresa Norris Phillips and Amy Norris Rutledge and husband, Tommy, all of Princeton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Trevor Langdon, Dalton Langdon, Kelsey Langdon, Kristin Phillips, Hailey Phillips, Tyler Rutledge and Dylan Rutledge.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton.
