JAMES DAVID "PETE" EDWARDS

PRINCETON -- James David "Pete" Edwards, 72, died Saturday evening at his home.

Born Nov. 19, 1937, in Johnston County to the late W. B. "Bud" and Thelma Tyner Edwards, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith Dwayne Edwards in 2003.

He was a member of Bizzell Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church for 38 years, Selma Masonic Lodge No. 320 and the Moccasin Creek Board. He was a former member of the Eastern Star No. 209 in Selma, a former Sunday school teacher, a church trustee and a Boys Club counselor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Rev. Vance Harrell and the Rev. Marcus Riggs officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are his wife, Leta Goulde Narron Edwards; sons, James David Edwards Jr. and wife, Jenny, of Selma and Dwight L. Edwards and wife, Marty, of Princeton; daughter, Desireé Elaine Edwards and husband, George Campion, of Princeton; brother, Walter Ralph Edwards of Selma; sister, Shirley Ponder of Louisburg; and grandchildren, Cassandra Edwards, Danielle Edwards, Summer Honeycutt, Ruskin Edwards and Seth Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
