GOLDSBORO-- Newlon M. Overman passed away at his home Monday, June 7, 2010.

Newlon was born in Wayne County Oct. 20, 1934, to the late Claude William Overman and Minnie McCullen Overman. He was married to the late Sally Overman.

Newlon owned and operated Overman Appliance Co. in Goldsboro, and was a founding member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie Wise officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Newlon is survived by his daughter, Kathy O. Lamm and husband, Robert, of Pikeville; his son, Mac Overman and wife, Lorraine, of Mount Olive; his grandchildren, Amber Simmons, Brittani Overman, Corey Overman, Kevin Lamm and Kelly Lamm; his great-grandsons, Joseph Lamm, Seth Simmons and Gavin Simmons, and his stepgreat-granddaughter, Kimber Jones.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 9, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, Mac Overman, at 1323 Country Club Road, Mount Olive, and at the home of his daughter, Kathy Lamm at 1057 N.C 581 north, Goldsboro.
