LOUISE BENNETTE DENMARK

June 29, 1919-May 27, 2010

RALEIGH -- Louise B. Denmark of Raleigh and formally of Goldsboro, N.C., died May 27, 2010.

She was born June 29, 1919, in Norfolk, Va., and graduated from Meredith College with an AB degree in home economics.

Additionally, Louise took graduate studies in education and guidance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, North Carolina State and East Carolina University.

After graduating from college in 1940, Louise went to Goldsboro to be a home supervisor for the Farm Security Administration.

She married Willis Denmark in January 1941.

From 1943 until 1948, Louise reared her three children and then resumed work, teaching seventh grade 4 at New Hope School.

In 1950, she began teaching at William Street School.

She then worked for her husband's construction business until his death in 1963.

Louise taught at Goldsboro Junior High School.

She moved to Raleigh in 1970 and worked in state government until retiring in 1982.

She is survived by daughters, Bennette Denmark Lee, her husband, Ramon, of Raleigh, Patience Denmark Teaney, her husband, Rex, Chapel Hill; son, Willis A. Denmark III, his wife, Kathleen, of High Point and Raleigh; grandchildren, Trip Teaney of Greenville, Mike Lee of Charlotte, Meredith Huffman of Raleigh, Kristin Sooy of N.J.; Allison Meyer of N.J., and Elizabeth Nix-Denmark and Jordan Nix-Denmark of High Point; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church at 6339 Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Providence Baptist Church Children's Program and/or Hospice of Wake County.
