MOUNT OLIVE -- Nancy Sue Roberts Kornegay, 70, of the Beautancus community, died Friday evening.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday at Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Turner will officiate, and visitation with the family will follow. Friends and family are also being received at the residence. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Roberts Family Cemetery.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ransom H. "Dick" Kornegay, and her parents, Ned and Margaret Roberts, she is survived by two daughters, Connie Kornegay Summerlin and husband, Jerry, and Wendy Kornegay Thornton and husband, Scotty, all of Mount Olive; three grandchildren, Jessica Davidson Hoskin and husband, Jesse, Casey Nicole Thornton, and Hope Thornton; a great-grandchild, Axel Levi Hoskin; and a step-granddaughter, April Summerlin, all of Mount Olive; three sisters, Jim Hazel Stroud, Flora Ann Watson, and Peggy Quinn and husband, A.D., all of Mount Olive; a brother, Preston Royall and wife, Thelma, of Mount Olive; a special friend, Harley Hines, of Mount Olive; and the beloved siblings and their families of her late husband.

Mrs. Kornegay was a member of Stanford Presbyterian Church, where she was church treasurer. She had been employed with Southern Bank and Trust Company in Mount Olive for over 40 years, retiring as administrative assistant to the bank president.
