MARYLAND -- In profound sorrow, the E.M. Matthews Funeral Home family joins with the Lewis and connected family to announce the passing of Terry Lewis Sr., formerly of Goldsboro.

April 1, 2010, Terry Lewis Sr. passed beyond the veil to eternal rest.

Visitation for Mr. Lewis will take place Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Spirit Church Ministries in Goldsboro. The family will be present to receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. The service of remembrance will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Following the service in the sanctuary, Mr. Lewis' earthen vessel and his beloved family will be escorted to Old Mill cemetery for interment rites. It will be in this earthly place that Terry will remain until that great reunion when all of God's children will gather and tell their Heavenly Father how they made it home.

Terry was the youngest son born to Mary Hilliard Lewis-Horn and Amaziah Lewis Jr. Dec. 11, 1967, in Washington, D.C. Terry was affectionately known to family and friends as "Bull."

In 1985, Terry graduated from Goldsboro High School. He remained in Goldsboro to care for his maternal Grandmother. Shortly after her death, he relocated to Maryland.

He became certified in auto mechanics from Wayne Community College.

Terry worked in the health care profession at Howard University Hospital until his death.

He met Lorraine Woodland and they were united in holy matrimony May 18, 1995. From this union four children were born: Shikeyla, T.J., Malcolm and Joshua.

Terry was a loving, warm, caring man, who was loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. His ever present smile and the apparent love his shared willingly with his family and friends has left us all with memories that can sustain us.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Shikeyla; sons, Terry Jr., Malcolm, and Joshua; mother, Mary Lewis-Horn (Anthony); father, Amaziah Lewis Jr. (Fannie); brothers, Sherwood and Brian; close and special cousins, Tonda, LaShawn and LaTryce; mother-in-law, Joyce T. Dyer; sisters-in-law, Joycelyn McIlwain (Eric) and Michelle Pickering (Jerrold); brother-in-law, Deonte'a Woodland; maternal aunts, Hattie Marshlean, Lillie and Phoebe (Sam); two paternal uncles; six paternal aunts; maternal nieces, Tiffany and Shanaia Lewis; one paternal niece; special co-workers, Rodney Wright and Alfreda Bulter-Brown; several great- uncles and great-aunts; and a host of cousins and other loving relatives and friends.

The physical temple of Mr. Lewis is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc., 401 N. William St., Goldsboro, where his family is also receiving true expressions of care, compassion and appreciation, www.emmatthewsfuneralhome.com, 735-2775.
