JANNIE B. DANIELS POWELL

Jannie B. Daniels Powell, born to the late Rev. Frank Levion Sr. and Janie Williamson Daniels, departed her earthly life after a brief illness Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wayne Memorial Park, U.S. 117 South, Dudley. The Rev. James A. Davis, pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Olive, will officiate.

She graduated from Dillard High School and completed some course work at East Carolina University. She retired from the State of North Carolina after more than 25 years of dedicated service in the Wayne County public school system and at O'Berry Center. She was a member of Holly Green Missionary Baptist Church in Dudley, where she served many years as finance secretary/clerk, president of the senior choir, and the Hospitality Committee.

She leaves to mourn her death two children, Anita Daniels of Durham, and Tobais Daniels of Goldsboro; two sisters, Bessie Jones of Goldsboro and Sadie Height (George) of Zebulon; two brothers, Frank Daniels Jr. and Hubert Daniels (Marion), both of Goldsboro; four aunts, Mary Artis (Leroy) and Dorette Lee, both of Washington, D.C., Helen Daniels and Josephine Daniels, both of Goldsboro; cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and her rat terrier, TT. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester R. Powell and two brothers-in-law.
