MARVIN J. BEAMAN

Friday, Marvin Joseph Beaman Sr., a beloved father, went home to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully at his home.
The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at Shumate-Faulk chapel. Burial will follow immediately at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.
Marvin, a farmer and cabinetmaker was a long-time Wayne County resident.
He was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Greene County to the late Theodore Arthur and Kitty Moore Beaman.
Marvin grew up in Appie, graduated from Brogden High School in 1945, and served in the United States Coast Guard during the latter years of World War II.
He was a founding member of Dudley Volunteer Fire Department and Brogden Grange.
He and Peggy attended Dudley Christian Church and Mount Olive Free Will Baptist Church.
He was an avid reader, a skillful domino player and antiques lover -- he was especially fond of automobiles and trains. Until his death he maintained a lifetime hobby of adding to his Lionel train collection.
Marvin was a man who made a lasting impression upon all that met him. For many years, he smoked a corncob pipe. He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Marvin Joseph Beaman Jr. and wife, Jane, of Mount Olive and Larry Beaman and wife, Pamela, of Mount Olive; four daughters, Lucie Ann Royal and husband, Gilbert, of Erwin, Joni Margaret Lee and husband, Jimmy, of Pink Hill, Gail Goodwin and husband, Dave, of Hayden, Idaho, and Sarah Jackson and husband, Thomas, of Holly Ridge; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Beaman D'Agostino and husband, Bruce of Marietta, Ga.; and two brothers, Selby Beaman and wife, Ann, of Dudley and Donald Beaman and wife, Virnece, of Dudley.
His wives, Margaret Rebecca Baucom Beaman and Lela Margaret "Peggy" West Beaman, wife of 56 years; and a sister, Audrey Beaman Bishop, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk, and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dudley Volunteer Fire Department.
