Janet Britt Stevens, 78, passed away on Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Don Sauls and the Rev. Dock Hobbs officiating. Interment will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Don Sauls and the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating.
Janet was born in Wayne County on June 7, 1931, to the late Grover Cleveland Britt and Theresa Bedford Britt. She was married to the late James David "Sam" Stevens Sr.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Terry Davis and husband, Buddy, of Goldsboro; her sons, James David Stevens Jr., Richard Stevens and wife, Judy, and Max Stevens and fiancée, Brenda Grimes, all of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Kevin Stevens and wife, Jennifer, Michael Stevens and wife, Casey, Ryan Davis and wife, April, and Jessica Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Stevens and Sarah Beth Stevens.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Davis; her sisters, Betty Strickland and Doris Sessions; and her brother, James E. Britt.
The family will receive friends today following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Richard and Judy Stevens, 112 Livingston Drive, Goldsboro.
