Beatrice Hill Assad, 77, passed away Sunday evening at Sutton's Retirement Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Bostian and the Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Beatrice was born in Horry County, S.C., May 23, 1932, to the late Grover Hill and Annabell Stroud Hill. She was married for 58 years to Sam Joseph Assad.

Beatrice had worked with S&H Green Stamp Co. for more than 26 years, serving as manager for her last 10 years of employment.

She was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, where she worked with the women's ministries for many years, sang in the choir and where she served as the coordinator for wedding receptions at the church.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Wanda A. McCullen and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Eric Assad and Kristin Assad Jones and husband, Lee; and four great-grandchildren, Eric Assad Jr., Ethan Tyler Assad, Kailey Lillian Cassady and Summer Leigh Cassady. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Helen Hill of Hobe Sound, Fla.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Sam Dale Assad and Dean Randall Assad.

The Assad family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Sutton's Retirement Center for the love and care given to their mother during her declining health.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dennis McCullen, 4502 U.S. 13 north in Goldsboro.
