Dorothy Smith Daniels, 84, passed away Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Dutton officiating. Burial services will be private.

She was the daughter of the late Arnold W. Smith and Eleanor H. Smith of Goldsboro.

Dorothy was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church of Goldsboro, the Wayne County Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Dames of the Magna Charta.

She is survived by a brother, Arnold W. Smith Jr. of Monroe; two sons, Reginald V. Bennett III and wife, Martha-Anne, of Powhatan, Va., and Robert H. Bennett and wife, Sherry, of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepchildren, Benjamin W. Daniels III and wife, JoAnne, of Dudley and Bennette D. Womack and husband, William, of Ringold, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Dorothy E. Bennett, Jessica McFall, Reginald V. Bennett IV, Anne C. Morissette, Dr. Jo Ellen Bennett, Eva Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Benjamin Daniels IV, Jamie G. Cole and William T. Womack Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Connor McFall, Casey McFall, Cayden McFall and Mia Grant Cole.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reginald V. Bennett Jr., m.d., of Hot Springs, Ark.; her second husband, Benjamin W. Daniels Jr. of Goldsboro; a sister, Eleanor S. Thain of Lexington,; and a brother, Richard H. Smith of Goldsboro.

The family wishes to express appreciation for the care and attention rendered to Mrs. Daniels by the Sterling House of Goldsboro and the Kitty Askins Hospice Center of Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2803 E. Ash S., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, in memory of Dorothy S. Daniels.
