LINSTON MERRITT

Linston Merritt, 73, passed away Monday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Linston was born in Wayne County Sept. 1, 1936, to the late Lafayette Merritt and Laura Rackley Merritt.
He was retired from Cooper Standard and had served his country in the United States Army. Linston was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Linston is survived by his wife, Linda Deans Merritt; his daughters, Vickie Merritt of Clayton and Donna Merritt of Goldsboro; his son, Brian Merritt of Goldsboro; his sister, Edna M. Small of Goldsboro; his grandsons, Daniel Jackson and Jordan Merritt Baggett; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 104 Scotland Drive in Goldsboro.
