Oscar Merle Cousins, 72, died Wednesday night at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the family having visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Born in Halifax County, Va., he was the son of the late Willard Victor and Emma Lee Cousins.

Oscar was a veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Intrepid.

He was the owner and operator of Suburban Tractor and Equipment Co. and a long-time member of the Goldsboro Exchange Club.

Mr. Cousins is survived by his wife, Frances Cousins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Richard Wright of Flower Mound, Texas, and Brenda and David Sutton of Goldsboro; two brothers and sisters in law, W.V. "Vic" Jr. and Pat Cousins of Danville, Va., and Robert and Linda Cousins of Goldsboro; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Gene Summerlin of Goldsboro; five grandchildren, Scarlet Price, Jason Wright, Stephanie Wright, Matthew Wright and Michael Wright; a special kitty, "Friskie"; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome and memorial gifts may be directed to the Goldsboro Exchange Club, P.O. Box 1793, Goldsboro, NC, 27533, to aid in the prevention of child abuse.
