WILLIAM E. BARNETTE

WARSAW -- William Earl Barnette, 61, died suddenly Thursday at home.

The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Community Funeral Home of Warsaw.

He was born in Duplin County June 11, 1948, to the late Joe and Eliza Barnette.

He was the chief of police for Magnolia.

Mr. Barnette was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite and Master Mason. He had served as master of the New River Lodge of Jacksonville and Warsaw Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie B. Barnette of the home; a son, Stephen Barnette and wife, Angela, of Warsaw; a granddaughter, Stephanie Barnette; brothers, Jimmy Barnette and Joe Robert Barnette of Jacksonville and Milton Barnette of Warsaw; and sisters, Annie Brooks of Yuma, Ariz., and Evelyn Barnette of Houston, Texas.

Visitation will follow the service.
