Willie Melvin Bedford, 79, of Arrow Point Drive, passed away Saturday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Overton officiating. Committal services will be Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
He was husband of Jean Bedford, and the son of the late W. Dortch and Ella Howell Bedford. He was the owner and operator of Bedford’s Sunoco for over 30 years and was then employed with Benton Tire Service.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bedford is survived by three daughters, Barbara Bedford and friend, Douglas Meeks of Alpharetta, Ga., Ann Wagner and husband, Kenneth, of Goldsboro, and Sandra Young and husband, Tony, of Douglasville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Amy Johnson, Adam Littrell, and Brooke Littrell, and a great-grandson, Jonathan Goldthwaite, and two brothers, Johnny Bedford of Spartanburg, S.C., and Nathan Bedford and wife, Judy, of Loganville, Ga.
