SNOW HILL -- Mrs. Della Johnson Ginn Jones, 73, passed away Friday afternoon at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 16, at Fort Run PFWB Church. Committal services will be held at 11a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Snow Hill Cemetery.

She was born in Wayne County on Sept. 15, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Emily Edmundson Johnson.

Following marriage, she moved to the Shine Community of Greene County and resided there until her death. Mrs. Jones had retired from Cherry Hospital and was an active member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she was a part of the choir and many other church ministries.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her first husband, Edsel Wayne Ginn, and a brother, Billy Johnson.

Her surviving family includes her husband, William A. "Bill" Jones of the home; children, Patricia Ginn Taylor and husband, Horace, Linda Ginn Newcomb and husband, Sam, and Michael Wayne Ginn and wife, Wanda, all of Snow Hill; grandchildren, Rodney Taylor and wife, Kristin, Leigh Ann Taylor, Wesley Newcomb, Rita Newcomb Creech and husband, Jason, Wayne Ginn, and Jody Cherry, all of Snow Hill; great-grandchildren, Zachary Paul Taylor, Cameron Jacob Taylor, Allie Blake Creech and Patrick Long; step-children, Faye J. Lane and husband, Ray, of Pikeville, Jeff Jones and wife, Cindy, of Goldsboro, Debbie Jones of Goldsboro and Carolyn Jones and husband, Greg, of South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Angie Fail and husband, Rex, Shannon Daniels and husband, Brad, Heather Tart and husband, Travis, Gina Larsen and husband, Matt, Jason Jones, Blake Jones and Allison Jones; and 9 step great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today following the service and other times at the residence, 614 Ginn Road, Snow Hill.
