Died July 8, 2009

ROXBORO -- Charles Bernard Parker, 74, 2150 Virgilina Road, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center.

The funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Randy Stoner and Bobby Hicks officiating. Interment followed in Person Memorial Cemetery.

He was a native of Johnston County, the son of the late Milton Egbert and Addie Bell Parker and the husband of the late Elaine Carlson Parker.

He was a security guard for Security Forces and attended Roxboro Bible Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by four sons, Charles Jeffrey Parker of Smithfield, Keith Ray Parker and wife, Wanda, of Garner and Charles Walker and wife, Debbie, and Marty Walker of Roxboro; a daughter, Jackie Watson and husband, James, of Roxboro; a sister, Melba Joyce Barden and husband, Tommy, of Goldsboro; a sister-in-law, Helen Parker; eight grandchildren, Whitney Parker, Michael Walker, Crystal Hutchins, Tracy Clayton, Jennifer Watson, Tori Walker, Shirley Walker and Brittany Walker; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Carlton Parker; a grandchild, Jimmy Watson Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Samantha Fuller.

Pallbearers will be Woody Barden, Keith Clayton, Wallace Hutchins, Billy Parker, John Parker, Robert Parker Jr. and Michael Walker.

The family received friends Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Inc. in Roxboro.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by Strickland Funeral Home, 1314 N. Main St., Roxboro.
