POLLY S. WILLIAMS

FAISON -- Polly Summerlin Williams, 78, 448 Tom Hill Road, after a long wait, went to be with her Lord and Savior, having passed from this life Tuesday morning at her home.

Services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ashley Summerlin, the Rev. Condary Ellis and the Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service, and at other times at the home of Jimmy and Diane Williams, 148 Serenity Lane, Faison.

Mrs. Williams was the daughter of the late Grady and Cora Wellington Summerlin.

She was a retired homemaker and she and her late husband, Paul I. Williams, were farmers.

She was a long-time member of Miller's Chapel Church, where she had served as secretary/treasurer, Sunday school teacher and church clerk and sang in the choir.

She is survived by her children, Paulette Williams of Goldsboro, Eddie Ray Williams of the home, who was a special son to her as well as a dedicated caregiver; Evelyn Riggs and husband, Charles, of Kinston and Jimmy Paul Williams and wife, Diane, of Faison; two grandchildren, Michelle Bradshaw and husband, William, and Joshua Williams; two great-grandchildren, Brittia Bradshaw and Zackary Bradshaw; a sister, Dorothy S. Hill of Faison; two brothers, George Summerlin of Dudley and the Rev. Ashley Summerlin of Seven Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law on May 14, 2009, who was more like a sister, Margaret Williams Whitman, and who was also a special caregiver.

Memorial donations are suggested to be made to Miller's Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 10441 Faison Hwy./Hwy. 403, Faison, NC, 28341, attn: Jeanne High.
