THEODORE ROOSEVELT FOYE SR.

Theodore Roosevelt Foye, Sr. (affectionately called "Bro" by family and friends) was the son of the late James and Lucinda Foye; the fourth born of eight children and one foster brother.
He was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Goldsboro and entered into eternal rest on May 10.
Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church, with pastor Dr. Kenneth J. Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Antioch.
He was educated by Goldsboro City Schools and graduated from Dillard High School in 1953. He also completed courses for management at Wayne Community College; management correspondence classes at the University of Oklahoma at Norman, and the Institute for Labor-Management Relations at the Howard University School of Business and Public Admin-istration, Washington, D.C.
When he was hired by the United States Postal Service he became known as "The Singing Mailman." He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years service. He was the Local President of Goldsboro, N.C. Local 317 for the National Federation Alliance, representing postal employees from 1972 until his illness.
As an entrepreneur Mr. Foye was owner of a local family restaurant, Foye's Burgers and Chicken. He was also a gospel promoter and gave opportunities to several upcoming artists.
Theodore was a longtime member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and served as the chairman of the trustee board, choir/male chorus member; a member of the committee that commissioned the church's present design and helped spearhead the fundraising for the church parking lot.
Theodore was married to the late Frances T. Foye and from this union were born three children. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Foye, and sister, Edna Delores Foye.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cynthia G. Foye; his children, Theodore R. Foye Jr. (Teresa) and Sharon D. Foye, both of Goldsboro, and Charles D. Foye (Beverly), of Delaware, Ronald Anderson (Lorie), of Minnesota, and Anthony Anderson (Priscilla), of West Virginia; godson, Ralphael Mitchell, of Goldsboro; three brothers, William Foye (Pauline), James Foye (Rev. Jacqueline), both of New York, Bishop Charles Foye (Christina), Minnesota; three sisters, Bessie Barnes (H.B.), of Goldsboro, Doris Spruill, of Minnesota, Mable Moses (James), of Goldsboro; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
