LOUISE P. HARTLEY
May 25, 1918- May 13, 2009
Louise Pearce Hartley, 90, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Louise was born in Johnston County on May 25, 1918, to the late Richard A. Pearce and Allie Talton Pearce. She was married to the late Jake Hartley. Louise was a homemaker that enjoyed taking care of her family's needs. She was a member of Riverside Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for the children for many years, sang in the choir and was active in the ladies auxiliary. Louise also had been active with the senior citizen groups at Faith Free Will Baptist Church and at Falling Creek Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. James Corbett, the Rev. Dennis Pollock and Dannie Faircloth officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wayne Memorial Park.
Louise is survived by her sons, Glenn Hartley and wife, Lisa, of Goldsboro, Jesse R. Hartley and wife, Jennifer, of Goldsboro and Larry L. Hartley and wife, Amy, of Goldsboro; her daughters, Doris H. Peele and husband, David, of Princeton and Kathy Tyner and husband, Terry, of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Grace Tyner of Goldsboro, Betsy Ingram of Goldsboro, Ethel Best of Princeton and Ruth Lane of Selma; and her brothers, Alton Pearce of Princeton and Willard Pearce of Norfolk, Va.
In addition to her husband and her parents Louise was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy P. Massey.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Glenn and Lisa Hartley, 494 Stevens Church Road, Goldsboro.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those who cared for Mrs. Hartley during her declining health. May God bless each of you.
