Evelyn Hinson Walters, 85, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Evelyn was born in Wayne County on Dec. 3, 1923, to the late Lewis Hinson and Lillie Mae Davis Hinson. She was married to the late John Anderson Walters Sr. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family and the Lord to the end. She was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Evans and the Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Lawrence and husband, Billy, of Apex, Betty Law and husband, Wendell, of Rosewood and Mary McDaniel and husband, Eddie, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; her son, John A. Walters Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sister, Jean Ham of Goldsboro; a special niece, Sandy Ham of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Walters Sr., and her grandson, Charles McDaniel.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday in the fellowship hall at Faith Free Will Baptist Church and also following the service and other times at her home, 103 Hailey Drive, Goldsboro.

Evelyn's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care shown to their loved one during her declining health.
