W. GLEN SYKES

William Glenwood "Glen" Sykes, 84, 1316 Robin St., died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. A graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.

Mr. Sykes was born in Tarboro on May 30, 1924, to the late Alonzo Peele Sykes and Rosa Lorbacher Sykes. He was married to the late Josephine Waldo Sykes.

Mr. Sykes worked for 59 years in the auto parts industry. He was a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Sykes is survived by his sons, Glen Sykes Jr., and wife, Sue, of Dudley and John Sykes and wife, Pamela, of Richardson, Texas; his brother, Alonzo Peele "Pete" Sykes Jr. of Glen Allen, Va.; his half-sister, Scottie Andrews of Irmo, S.C.; his granddaughters, Kristen Jensen and Heather Bailey; and two great-granddaughters.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Maude Andrews Sykes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5970 Fairview Road, 3 Fairview Plaza S-408, Charlotte, N.C., 28210.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
