William Albert Walston Sr., 66, 108 Holland Hill Drive, died Monday at his home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bostian and the Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Walston was born in Edgecombe County on Oct. 5, 1942, to the late J.I. "Skip" Walston and Virginia Pope Walston. He was manager of Vocational Rehabilitation in Kinston, Goldsboro and Kenansville. Mr. Walston was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church for over 40 years where he was also a member of the choir. He was a Civitan and Toastmaster.

Mr. Walston is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Roof Walston; his daughter, Tracey Kaye Walston of Raleigh; his son, William Albert "Skip" Walston Jr. of Kinston; his brother, Roy Walston of Wilmington; his sister, Jenny Shearin of Scotland Neck; his brother-in-law, Jesse Shearin of Scotland Neck; his grandchildren, Tracey Elizabeth Bailey of Raleigh and George Gordon Bailey IV of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Walston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. Highway 581 S., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
