WENDELL -- Sam Harris Shugart, born June 11, 1931, in Elkin, passed away Tuesday surrounded by
family.
Plans for a celebration of Sam's life will be announced.
Sam retired from education to Samelot, the family farm.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Nancy Roberson Shugart; sons, Steve of Nashville, Tenn., Mike of Greenville, Clay and wife, Jill, of Greensboro and John and wife, Terry, of Wilmington; daughter, Kate Weaver and husband, Steven, of Greensboro; A.B. Brown of Zebulon; four grandchildren, Kelly, Bailey, Ashley and Alex; brother-in-law, Tom Roberson and wife, Emily, of Elizabethtown; twin sister, Sue Shugart of Arlington, Va.; brother, Charles Shugart and wife, Kay, of Sumter, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Shugart of Union, S.C., and Louisa Shugart of Charlotte; and cousin Bill Shugart and wife, Betty, of Raleigh.
