MARY GOLD WALLACE BELL

Oct. 19, 1939-March 17, 2009

ALBERTSON -- Mary Gold Wallace Bell, 69, Albertson, passed away Tuesday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington while surrounded by her loving family and many friends.

Visitation will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at Pink Hill Funeral Home with funeral services on Friday at 11 a.m. Graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Pink Hill.

She was born Oct. 19, 1939, to Joseph H. and Beatrice Wallace of Albertson. She was a life- long member of Snow Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church in the Scott's Store community where she served as choir director and Sunday school teacher for many years.

She touched the lives of many children while serving as a teacher's assistant at B.F. Grady Elementary School, but her greatest joy came from being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Although faced with many health issues during her life, she remained an inspiration to her family and others through her love of music, her positive outlook on the challenges she was faced with and her strong faith in God, always giving Him the praise for each day she was given. One of her favorite songs was a testimony of how she lived her life -- "One Day at a Time."

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Lloyd and Inez Jones; and a son-in-law, W.H. Howard Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Charles Bell; daughters, Kerry Jo Mozingo and husband, Phil, of Albertson, Lisa Howard-Cain and husband, Jeff, of Pink Hill and Renee Byrd and husband, Mark, of Albertson; and six grandchildren to whom she was lovingly known as Nana, Blair Mozingo, Madison Mozingo, Jonathan Howard, Landon Howard, Karliegh Byrd and Karsyn Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Snow Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Lou Carroll.
