MOUNT OLIVE -- Sammie Faison Jr., 83, son of the late Sammie Faison Sr. and Lila Best Faison, died Sunday at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be Saturday at Jackson Tabernacle Church at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Roosevelt Herring officiating. Burial will follow in the Grantham Cemetery.
He is survived by five sons; Willie, Frank, Jessie, Samuel and Terry Faison, all of North Carolina; eight daughters, Gracie Oates and Carolyn Barnes of Goldsboro, Doris Blair of Gary, Ind., Eva Holland of Griswold, Conn., Adell Williams of Wilson, Sudie Williams of Cary, and Pamela Oliver and Kathy Faison, both of Dudley; 41 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; a host of great-great grandchildren; sisters, Estella Durant, Sarah Miller, Mattie Pearl Stukes, Lila Mae Graham and Helen Faison, all of Mount Olive; and a brother, John Lee Faison of South Carolina.
Viewing will be at Garris Funeral Home Chapel Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
