HILDA M. HOUSE

SELMA -- Hilda Massengill House, 81, died Tuesday in Smithfield Manor Nursing Center. Born in Pine Level to the late John Henry and Mamie Holloman Massengill, she was the widow of Hobart T. House. Hilda was the owner and operator of House's Day Care in Selma for more than 20 years. She was a member, former deacon, ladies auxiliary member and Sunday school teacher at the Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of the Selma Chapter 209 Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are her daughters, Elaine House Wood of Danville, Va., and Shannon House Botner of Raleigh; three sisters, Janet M. Creech of Clinton, Joyce M. Joyner of Goldsboro and Barbara M. Gresko of Chesterfield, Va.; three grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
