VIRGINIA S. DELACEY

CHESAPEAKEVa. -- Virginia Sasser DeLacey, 51, passed away Monday.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Va., with the Rev. Ronald E. Greiser Jr. officiating. Burial of her remains will be private. The family will receive friends in the home after the service.

She was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., to Dr. Patrick and Patricia Sasser, and grew up in Goldsboro. Virginia graduated from Duke University and received her master's degree from Old Dominion University. She was an adjunct professor of history at Thomas Nelson Community College and Tidewater Community College.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Dr. William A. DeLacey; two daughters, Virginia and Patricia DeLacey of Chesapeake, Va.; a son, John Patrick DeLacey and Sarah Kirk of Charlottesville, Va.; two brothers, Patrick Sasser of Goldsboro and William Sasser of New Orleans, La.; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foodbank of Southeastern V.A., P.O. Box 1940, Norfolk, V.A., 23501 or St. John's Episcopal Church at 424 Washington St., Portsmouth, V.A. 23704.
